Toronto on a Dime, the Distillery District

The Distillery District summer arts market
Some Good Things in
Life are Free

Not all good things in life have a price tag involved.  Summertime is even better to explore the free or inexpensive things that are offered in life.  With this in mind, I sometimes like to become a tourist in my own city; I take the whole day off and walk around before and after my semi annual trip to my Toronto dentist thats within walking distance of Yonge and Bloor; Dr Archer is at Sherbourne and Bloor, right across from the subway station so from there I can jet anywhere much faster than if I was in a car.

The Joy of Tourist Attractions in Toronto

I like explore all the tourist attractions that would appeal to me if I lived abroad. It offers a bit of paradigm shift.   I join the many from around the world and explore the outdoor arts market in the Distillery on weekends thanks to Artscape.  It doesn't cost a thing to window shop and just look.   The market runs every weekend and there is a wide variety of  talented and creative artisan vendors that display and sell their work.  There are many art galleries to explore as well.

Feeling at Home in the Distillery DistrictBlackbird vintage finds in the distillery district in Toronto canada

I enjoy the Distillery Market for it's charming appeal and the historic integrity it has managed to maintain. You can search streets and enter buildings to find antique items such as a rusted out old antique Ford Model T car or an old interesting looking furnace type of appliance.  These are just a few badly described items. It's not like visiting Black Creek Pioneer Village because the added modern flare.  The modern burning man type sculptures connect well with the historical feel among the other modern type stores.

Comfort and Flare

Many people live in the area too so it also has a feel of community too.  The stores and restaurants vary from high end to comfortable level for those on a budget.  You may see beautiful people who look like they came from a high end Yorkville Salon, to the ordinary person in their casuals walking their dog.  I love the variety.    I like the fact that I never feel pressured to buy anything. Respectful  browsing is encouraged in most stores.  For those international travellors, who don't want to send the scupltures displayes in the distillery district in Toronto Canadaa lot of air freight home, you can pick up little interesting pieces that offer authentic memories of Canada.

Exploration of History, Art and Photography with the Canine

The Distillery District definitely has a comfy home like feel with authentic artifacts and art displayed throughout the area.  The Distillery District is a film and photography heaven as well.  Photo opportunities are located every where in this Toronto tourist attraction.  It's an interesting place to walk the dog and grab a cup of Joe.   The outdoor patios allow a perfect place to sit with your pouch and enjoy your java outdoors.   Enjoying a walk through the Distillery District makes me feel like a tourist through time with all the modern characteristics mixed in.  A perfect place to people watch.
